Child care directly impacts employees, their productivity, and ultimately your organization. DuoShare can help strengthen your workforce as well as provide stability to local child care businesses. It allows all employees, regardless of income to access a child care cost-sharing benefit.

Employer Requirements

  • Agree to cover a percentage of child care costs and create a new benefit to allow for this payment.

  • Collect employee payments we suggest using a payroll deduction (United Way staff will provide amounts).

  • Send employer and employee contributions via ACH to United Way upon receiving an invoice.

  • Market your new benefit to employees. (materials available)

Easy to Implement

  • No additional staff is needed, we have a customizable system already in place.

  • Employees apply at DuoShare.org and we perform all eligibility processes based on the employer guidelines.

  • United Way pays the child care business for 100% of care.

  • Employer invoiced for the employee and employer portions along with a small administration fee. (Monthly fees are waived for employees not actively using care.)

Consider MI Tri-Share

The MI Tri-Share Child Care Program is designed to make child care affordable for Michigan’s working parents while also helping Michigan employers offer a highly desirable benefit that improves employee recruitment and retention.

Through MI Tri-Share, the cost of an employee’s child care is shared equally among the employer, the employee and the State of Michigan - an even three-way split.

Employer Requirements & Considerations

  • Offer the MI Tri-Share program to one or more employees with dependent children between 0-17 years old.

  • Agree to cover 33% of participating employees’ child care costs.

  • Confirm employee wage information, if requested.

  • Collect employee payments

  • Submit employer and employee payments via ACH.

  • Allow for flexibility as family situations and needs vary.
